I added my contents using my flat plan to help me. I decided to divide it up into sections- features and regulars. I added a picture and put a number on it so that it relates to the contents. Also, I added Facebook and twitter icons as I want my magazine to be involved in social media so that it gets more publicity. I also added the page numbers and branding (Understatement) to follow the conventions of professional music magazines.

Contents Page Sample 1
I finished creating my Front Cover so I decided to start creating my contents page on InDesign. As you can see I will be having two contents page. I also added ruler lines in so that it looks neat and proportional. I created the black oval in Photoshop.
Chosen Images for contents page
I chose these images for my contents page as they relate to my contents. I chose the first image because it looks similar to the front cover image, in my research I found out that most music magazines do this. I chose the second and third image, as these images are quite girly and this will represent my target audience which is females.

Final Front cover
This is the front cover of my magazine which was created in Photoshop. I stuck to my three colour scheme which is red, black and white. I also added all the conventions of a professional magazine for example: bar code, price etc...Overall, I would say that this front cover was fairly easy to make after I played around with the tools on Photoshop.

Front cover sample 3
I decided to change my masthead colour as the black looked Gothic and this would not suit my R&B/Hip-Hop genre. I also created my masthead in Illustrator as this software allows me to widen my masthead. Also, I started working on my coverlines using my flat plan- I used different colours that are all in my 3 colour scheme (red, black and white) to make the front cover bright.

Front cover sample 2
I decided to make the model in the picture bigger so that the model is the most important on the front cover. I forgot to add the rulers so I added them.

Front cover sample
As I have finished my photo shoot, I decided to get started on designing my front cover of my music magazine. The image of the model was initially a wide shot however I cropped it so that it is a mid-shot. Cropping the image was very easy, I also brightened the image which was also very easy to do. In my house style sheets, I decided to do my masthead in red however, I changed my mind and now I would like it to be black as it looks better. All of the image manipulation was done on Adobe Photoshop.
Chosen Front Cover image
This image is my chosen front cover image. This image here does need editing as it is not up to standard, however I will be manipulating the image so that it is suitable as a front cover image. I chose this image as the model is looking directly in the camera (Direct Address) and also she has her hands on her waist which is quite a girly pose and this suits my target audience which is females.

Task 6 Magazine proposal and Audience feedback
This is a video of me presenting my magazine proposal and also includes the audience feedback in it. I got asked several questions on my magazine proposal in which I tried to answer to the best of my ability to ensure that I was coming across as confident with the whole concept. From the audience feedback I was told that I need to be very clear on that it is a music magazine and not a music magazine and this is something I agree with and to ensure that this situation does not occur I will be making sure that my front coverlines will definitely relate to music and not fashion. From the audience feedback, someone had suggested that I lower the price as since my target audience is working class and a younger target audience they would not be able to afford something very pricey and this is something I strongly agree with and as a result of this, I have decided to change the pricing to £2.00 which was originally £2.50. In the audience feedback, someone had suggested that I use adverts that are music endorsed however, I forgot to mention that I have included adverts that are music endorsed such as an album cover and the rest was not music endorsed because I wanted my adverts to be versatile and not all music magazines have music endorsed adverts in every single advert and also in the flat plan I only included very limited adverts anyway as I wanted more content in it rather than just a lot of magazines. Overall, I would say that the audience feedback was very helpful as it helped in improving my music magazine and audience feedback is vital as it helps with knowing the opinions of others and making sure you meet their requirement as an audience.

Adobe Illustrator notes
On the 10th November 2014, we got taught the basics of using Adobe Illustrator. Here are the notes:
-Illustrator is vector-based, not pixels. Better for graphics as it is more flexible and does not distort the image.
-Use layers, just like Photoshop. Lock it when you don't use it.
-Selections, Direct selection tools are key.
-fill-to fill an object
-Stroke-to add an outline
-Opacity-makes it solid/see-through
-Selection tool allows you to e.g. rotate (like free transform on Photoshop)
-Direct selection creates anchor points and anchors
-Switch colour palettes to RGB to match colours to Photoshop
-Shapes tool/useful
-You can import JPEGs and convert it to vector using live trace
-Text tool. Use selection tool to move, re-size, rotate etc...
-Window-Type-character-experiment! Manipulate e.g. tracking (spacing)
-Right click text-creates outlines. This creates anchor points which allows you to isolate and edit smaller parts of the text
-Pen tool allows you to add/ alter anchor points
-To export: File, export, PNG file. Select high resolution. Make the colour transparent.
